With the weather finally getting warmer and the days getting longer and brighter, many of us are, understandably, looking towards our summer holidays.
Whether you prefer to soak up some rays on a sun-kissed beach, relax by a hotel pool with your favourite book, or go sightseeing in a historic European city – one thing you don’t want to happen is losing your luggage.
It is not uncommon for suitcases to go missing in transit, or for holidaymakers to misplace crucial things like their passport or phone while out and about somewhere new. But thankfully, modern technology can help us with that.

Bluetooth trackers allow tourists to better know where their things are, from a suitcase that didn’t arrive with you at the airport to the wallet you left at a charming cafe.
And one of the best is the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2, which you can currently get on Amazon for under £15 for one or just £49 for a pack of four – allowing you to keep an eye on a variety of key items.
That is exactly what our sister title The Mirror’s Technology Affiliates Writer Christopher Harper is planning to do when he jets off abroad. Read on to see why Christopher is planning to pack a Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 when he goes on holiday.

“In the next few months, I’ll be heading to Croatia for a week. To avoid any frustration at the airport in the UK while abroad, I’ve decided to invest in a Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 for under £15.
“But why? Well, as many Brits may know, things can go wrong when it comes to luggage and the last thing you want is all your belongings going missing.
“And a Bluetooth tracker can help with that as well as keep a close eye on other valuables like your wallet, passports and more so they will never go missing.

“Bluetooth trackers can help locate lost items by connecting via Bluetooth to a smartphone app, allowing users to ring the tracker or see its last known location, and some utilize a crowdsourced network to update location even when out of range.
“Tracking devices like the £15 SmartTag2 are a game-changer for Brits, as they can keep your mind at ease. This handy gadget is not only durable, with an IP67 rating, making it dust and water-resistant, but it’s also an excellent companion for your travels thanks to its impressive battery life that lasts up to 500 days.
“With Power Saving Mode throwing in an additional 40 per cent, travellers can trust the SmartTag2 for dependable location services. However, there is one catch – these trackers are exclusively compatible with Samsung phones, which is a vital point to bear in mind.”
If you want to get a tracker for your next trip but, unlike Christopher, you are not a Samsung user, then you will have to look elsewhere. Apple diehards need not worry, however, as the Apple Air Tag is currently down to £28 on Amazon. Or the Tile Mate comes in at £20.
But if you are a Samsung owner, then like-minded users have been heaping praise on the SmartTag2 in a series of glowing reviews.
One happy customer said: “I was dubious at first, being solely reliant on Bluetooth and locked into the Samsung ecosystem, but it has worked well and stood up to the tests of frequent global air travel.
“Now have multiple tags for all my luggage and carry-on when travelling for work and have been able to track my bags without any issue even when my bags have landed up in a different location to me.”
Another satisfied holidaymaker added: “If you’re a Samsung Galaxy owner, I would highly recommend it. Small, compact, robust, with great battery life.”
But not everyone was as impressed, with some saying the tracker may not be as effective in areas when there are less Samsung devices nearby.
One person said: “In areas with a high density of Samsung devices, it performs well. However, in our town (less than 120k population), the location refresh rate is noticeably slower and often outdated. For example, when I tested it during a rush-hour full train commuting from London to Birmingham, the real-time location was delayed by about 20 minutes.”
