UNIOIN, W.Va. – The Monroe County Board of Education has a vacancy and is looking for a replacement.
Sabrina Stutts, who had served on the board representing the Western District (Peterstown area) since January 2021 and reelected in 2024, has resigned her seat and someone will be chosen by the school board to serve through June 30, 2026.
Letters of interest must be received on or before 3 p.m. on March 28.
They can be mailed to Board President Candace Sabol, Monroe County Schools, PO Box 330, Union, WV 24983. Letters can also be emailed to [email protected].
Monroe County Clerk Jeremy Meadows said a primary election will be held next year to determine a permanent replacement.
Eligibility requirements for county board members can be found in WV Code 18-5-1a. The person chosen must be a permanent resident residing in the Western District.
