CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The Wildlife Center of Virginia is getting ready to welcome thousands of new patients with baby season approaching.
The center takes on injured or orphaned wildlife from all over Virginia each year.
It relies on the community to find and deliver new patients.
The best thing to do if you do spot a baby out in the wild is to never assume that baby is orphaned. The center also advises not to feed any wild babies without contacting it first.
“If in doubt it’s best to contact our center for advice. We’re here to help, we’re here every single day of the year, and we’re here to help you evaluate if that animal does need help and if it does need to come for care,” Director of Outreach for the Virginia Wildlife Center Connor Gillespie said.
Gillespie says a pro tip is to have a box with a blanket in it in case you do run into a wild animal and need to transport it to the center.
