(Gray News) – The soap world is mourning the loss of one of their own this week.

According to multiple reports, prolific character actor Wings Hauser has died at the age of 78.

Variety reports Hauser, best known for his roles in “The Young and the Restless” and “Vice Squad,” died March 15 in Los Angeles of natural causes.

The outlet said his wife Cali Lili Hauser confirmed his death.

The longtime actor became a soap star while first playing character Greg Foster on “The Young and the Restless” in 1977 and again in 2010.

He was also the father of “Yellowstone” star Cole Hauser and leaves behind an adult daughter, Bright Hauser.

His wife paid tribute to her husband in a lengthy social media post this week.

“Wings Hauser’s one-of-a-kind, legendary career spanned 58 years in movies, TV and music working alongside many of the greatest artists in the industry and earning their respect,” she shared.

Cali Lili Hauser said she will continue their love story while honoring his legacy.

IMDb credits Wings Hauser with 115 acting roles with film credits including “Vice Squad” in 1982 and with Al Pacino and Russell Crowe in “The Insider” in 1999.
