CHARLESTON, W.Va. – No matter what happened Thursday, the season for the Montcalm Generals was already a generational success after making it to the state tournament for the first time since 1978.

However, the prize for the Generals was getting the No. 8 seed in the Class A tournament and taking on defending state champions No. 1 seed Tug Valley Panthers in the state quarterfinals.

In the end, Montcalm’s magical season came to a close in a loss to Tug Valley.
