Dallas rapper Yella Beezy has been arrested and charged with masterminding the 2020 murder of fellow rapper Mo3, according to court documents.

The 33-year-old, born Markies Conway, is accused of hiring suspected hitman Kewon White to kill Melvin Noble, another Dallas-area rapper who performed under the name Mo3 and was best-known for his 2018 hit single “Everybody.”

Mo3 was shot several times in the back on Nov. 11, 2020 while trying to flee from a masked gunman.

Investigators said the rapper was in his car on Interstate-35E in Dallas when White, wearing a ski mask at the time, approached, prompting Mo3 to exit his vehicle and run down the highway. White pursued on foot before opening fire in broad daylight, fatally striking the rapper.

Yella Beezy, who once opened for Jay-Z and Beyonce, was taken into custody in connection with the killing on Thursday and booked into the Dallas County Jail. His arrest came days after a Dallas County grand jury formally indicted him on a charge of “capital murder while remuneration,” alleging he “intentionally and knowingly” caused Mo3’s death when he struck up his deal with White, according to documents obtained by USA Today.

His bond has not yet been set and he remained behind bars as of Friday afternoon, according to TMZ.

White, meanwhile, was arrested a month after the highway gunfire and charged with murder, KDFW reported. White went on to plead guilty to a felony charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and sentenced to almost nine years in federal prison.
