DALLAS — Police arrested Dallas rapper Yella Beezy on Thursday and charged him with capital murder in connection with the November 2020 shooting death of his rival performer Mo3, court documents show.
The charging document obtained by WFAA accuses Yella Beezy of employing a man named Kewon White to murder Mo3 in November of 2020. The court document states that Yella Beezy, whose real name is Markies Conway, allegedly provided payment or the promise of payment to White for carrying out the hit.
Kewon Dontrell White and Devin Maurice Brown, Jr., are also facing federal charges in connection with Mo3’s death. They were arrested in the weeks immediately following his murder.
On Nov. 11, 2020, 28-year-old Melvin A. Noble, also known as rapper Mo3, was driving northbound on Interstate 35E near Illinois Avenue and Clarendon Drive just south of the Dallas Zoo when he was shot and killed by a suspect who fled in a black Chevy Camaro, police said.
Authorities transported Mo3 from the scene to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
White is in federal custody serving a nine-year prison sentence for firearm charges connected to the Mo3 shooting. Brown is being held in the Dallas County Jail.

Mo3 was best known for his hit singles “Errybody,” “Outside” and “Broken Love.” His murder has long been suspected to be the result of a rap feud, although details remained unclear until now.
Following the arrest of Yella Beezy, Mo3’s mother Nichole Williams Noble took to social media, calling the charges filed “justice.” The Facebook post garnered hundreds of comments with one user writing “I’m so glad you can finally have peace.”

In October 2018, Yella Beezy was shot three times on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in Lewisville. Police told WFAA then that the shooter fired over a dozen shots at his vehicle, striking Yella Beezy three times. He was hospitalized for one day and released.
His single, “That’s on Me,” was a hit in 2018, reaching the top spot on rap/R&B radio charts just before that shooting.
In 2021, Yella Beezy was arrested on three different occasions. In February, Dallas police arrested him on weapons charges, and then arrest him again in August on gun and drug charges. In November of that year, Plano police arrested him on an outstanding warrant for a sexual assault charge. He was also arrested on charges of child endangerment and unlawfully carrying a weapon, Plano police said.
Last year, a lawsuit filed in July alleged that Yella Beezy, along with R&B singer Chris Brown and his entourage, beat four men after a concert at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. The rapper’s lawyers told WFAA in an interview at the time that “Yella Beezy was at the concert, but had zero involvement in any alleged assault.”
No criminal charges were filed in that case.
This is a developing story. More details will be added as they become available.
