Six days have passed since Rangers triumphed in the Old Firm clash against Celtic at Parkhead – but some callers on the Hotline are still marvelling at that success.
Interim Ibrox boss Barry Ferguson secured Gers first victory on enemy soil for five years and the champions are now being told that they are simply not as good as they think they are. Stuart Mcleod, Stepps, wrote: “Some of these Celtic fans don’t do humour do they? The more they tell us how magnificent they are the more we will celebrate this poor Rangers team putting them to the sword.
“Remember the predictions on this hotline about Rangers getting an absolute doing last week, Aberdeen were the 2nd force in Scotland, Schmeichel will be lucky to concede more than 10 goals this season and Adam Idah was going to terrorise the country this season whilst the whole of Europe was to sit back and tremble after the Bratislava game.”
Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, added: “When are Paul McCardle, Gourock and Gordon Ashley, Ayr going to realise that Celtic have not taken anyone’s crown as being the world’s most successful club. Al-Ahly took that accolade when Rangers were coming back up the leagues and are clear of Celtic.
“The fact is Rangers were once the world’s most successful club something that Celtic may or may not take in the future but as things stand they are not and have never been the world’s most successful club.”
However, Sean Beech, Hampshire, argues that Rangers have gone overboard in celebrating their second consecutive Old Firm triumph. He wrote: “Any truth to the rumour that the Ibrox hierarchy are giving away their trophy brass so their fans can polish their necks?
“Anyone would have thought Rangers had won a trophy this week the way they have been over celebrating…oh wait isn’t that what the diddy teams do when they cause an upset!”
Former Parkhead boss John Barnes has riled up Celtic fans by claiming that Brendan Rodgers has settled for an ‘easy life’ in the hotseat in Glasgow’s East End and the criticism for the Liverpool legend – who was infamously knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Inverness during his failed Celtic stint in 2000 – is still coming in its droves.

Jamie Thompson, Yoker, said: “What is it with these ex football managers, especially has-been like John Barnes. He was utter failure at Parkhead and should just keep quiet and retire to play golf.”
“Celtic won the league (last season) because the Rangers team was rubbish but these deluded Celtic supporters live in fantasy world.”
The fallout from ‘Water Gate’ continues and Peter Cooperwhite has told Celtic fans to lighten up by pointing to the money generated for charity from the sale of Rangers perpetrator Vaclav Cerny’s match shirt. He wrote: ” I know Celtic fans a bit peeved about being skooshed but for Cerny’s shirt to go to auction for charity and standing at £24K, surely even Celtic fans can at least say some charities going to benefit from this carry on. So let’s be honest no one was seriously hurt only a bit of pride.”
Elsewhere, Neil Lennon is back in management and has been tasked with keeping Dunfermline afloat in the Championship. The Pars currently occupy the relegation play-off spot in the second tier but Frank Jackson firmly believes that the Celtic hero will get them PROMOTED back to the Premiership for the first time in 13 years next season.
He said: “Great to see a club with ambition appointment an experienced man as manager.
“Lennon will of course keep them up and get them promoted. Feel sorry for the previous manager whose only fault was lack of experience.”
