AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Longhorns are in the market for a new head basketball coach.
On Sunday, the Longhorns fired head coach Rodney Terry following a disappointing 19-16 season that culminated in Wednesday night’s loss to Xavier in the First Four of the NCAA Tournament. It was also the first season since 2020-21 where the Longhorns failed to win 20 games.
Terry was named the Longhorns head coach in 2023, after he led them to the Elite 8 while serving in an interim role for the majority of the 2022-23 season. He replaced former head coach Chris Beard, who was fired in January 2023.
Terry qualified for the NCAA Tournament in each of his seasons with Texas, qualifying for the Round of 32 in his first full season as head coach in 2023-24.
Terry had a 62–37 record during his stint with the Longhorns, and has a 225–193 record in 13 seasons as a head coach with Fresno State, UTEP and Texas.
