BECKLEY, W.Va. – For almost three decades, the Southern Communications Women’s Expo has been an annual tradition with the goal of bringing together women, as well as the community at large.

At this year’s event, taking place during Women’s History Month, the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center welcomed families to explore a variety of vendors.

“It’s on both sides, we have goods for women and women’s health, and then on the other side women owned businesses that are getting exposure to the public that maybe don’t know about them,” said Lola Rizer, an event coordinator with Southern Communications.

The event, now in its 27th year, boasted more than 150 vendors. Booths ranged from healthcare information, products for sale, and more, including one vendor showing off a live horse.

“There’s just so much here, that you can come out and find out what a woman needs for your health, your mental, you know, it’s just a great location for everything…I just think it’s a great resource for our community,” explained Beth Reger, General Manager of Southern Communications.

When it comes to next year, Rizer told WVVA they’re planning to continuously expand.

“The one thing that we love about this expo is that there’s always room for growth, we always want to bring in as many vendors as possible, we will fill every nook and cranny of this convention center if we can. We want to make sure we have a variety of vendors available to keep it fresh and exciting every year,” continued Rizer.
