ROUND ROCK, Texas — A fatal crash is causing significant traffic backup on Interstate 35 in Round Rock on Monday afternoon.
The Round Rock Police Department (RRPD) said the initial call came in around 11:40 a.m. about the crash on Interstate 35 near RM 620. Both the northbound and southbound lanes are closed in the area.
At around 12:30 p.m., RRPD said that at least one person has been pronounced dead in the “major collision” and two others have been transported to a hospital with minor injuries. RRPD said several vehicles are involved, but it’s unclear at this time how many.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Drivers should expect delays and consider using alternate routes, as RRPD says it’s unknown how long the lanes will remain closed.
