WASHINGTON — More than 16,000 bottles of laundry detergent sold on Amazon are being recalled because they may be contaminated with bacteria that can lead to infections.
The recall affects 50-fluid-ounce bottles of Woolite Delicates detergent, sold exclusively on Amazon in January 2025. The bottles were sold for anywhere between $14 and $17 and can be identified by their colors: white bottles with a light pink label and cap.
Products included in the recall will have a SKU number 62338-72724 and one of the following lot codes printed on the back of the bottle near the top: S24364, S24365, or S24366.
The bottles were possibly contaminated with the bacteria Pseudomonas oleovorans, according to a notice on the website of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The bacteria is commonly found in soil and water. While it isn’t likely to cause infections or diseases in people, it’s still possible that those with compromised immune systems, such as the elderly or those undergoing certain medical treatments, could be harmed by the bacteria.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.
How to get a refund
Consumers who purchased the recalled detergent should immediately stop using it and contact Reckitt for a full refund. To receive reimbursement, customers should:
-
Write their name and “Recalled” in permanent marker on the back of the bottle.
-
Take a photo of the product with the UPC and lot code visible.
-
Email the photo to ConsumerCare_USA@reckitt.com.
Once the refund is processed, consumers should dispose of the product by tightly closing the bottle and placing it in household trash. The product should not be emptied prior to disposal, nor should the bottle be recycled.
For more information, consumers can contact Reckitt through its customer service email.
