Police have not identified the man who was killed in the crash.

AUSTIN, Texas — A 21-year-old woman faces a felony charge following a deadly crash in South Austin.

Authorities responded to the crash Saturday evening on Menchaca Road near Davis Lane after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.

Austin-Travis County EMS pronounced the pedestrian, an unidentified man, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle was identified as 21-year-old Anissa Zapata.

Police said Zapata was arrested following the crash and charged with felony “accident involving death and driving while intoxicated.”

The incident remains under investigation as Austin’s 20th deadly crash of 2025, which has resulted in 24 deaths. At this time in 2024, Austin had 19 deadly crashes resulting in 19 deaths.
