The son of a California woman has sued Trump International Hotels, claiming his mother died after she was “violently ejected” from a revolving door at the luxury chain’s property in Las Vegas.
According to a wrongful death lawsuit, obtained by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Diana Truschke suffered fatal injuries on March 21, 2023, as she attempted to exit the 64-story high-rise, tucked in the north end of the Strip. But when “she reached the side of the revolving door that faces outward,” it suddenly sped up and hit her from behind, throwing her several feet from the building.
Truschke, who landed on her face, underwent “extensive medical treatment” after the fall, but she died on Oct. 14 after her health “continued to deteriorate,” the suit said. She was 78 years old.
The exact injuries she suffered during the door incident were not outlined in the suit, recently filed on behalf of Truschke’s estate and its administrator, her son, John Truschke, in Clark County, Nev. It accused the Trump hotel in Las Vegas of negligence, arguing the revolving door was not in compliance with laws and regulation at the time.
What’s more, hotel staff should have been aware the door “was not working properly,” and taken steps to ensure no guests were at risk because of it, the court documents said.
The suit is asking for medical and funeral expense in addition to damages for pain and suffering.
