AUSTIN, Texas — A man has been arrested after fentanyl and cocaine were seized at his home during a raid.
According to the Austin Police Department, APD’s Narcotics Support Unit began surveilling and investigating 38-year-old Albert Garcia in December 2024 after they received a tip that he had been selling cocaine in Austin. A background check into Garcia also revealed that he had already been on probation for selling cocaine previously.
APD detectives subsequently obtained surveillance video that showed Garcia meeting with known narcotics dealers in the Austin area, and engaging in suspected drug deals with them. He was also seen making drug deals with other people.
A search warrant was obtained, and police searched his residence in the 8500 block of Birmingham Drive on the morning of March 25.
During the search, police seized over $19,000 in cash, 548 grams (1.2 pounds) of fentanyl and 507 grams (1.1 pounds) of cocaine.
Garcia and his girlfriend were arrested. He was charged with two counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance less than 400 grams. He is also being referred for federal prosecution on the new charges.
