St. LOUIS (KMOV/Gray News) – Select bars in the St. Louis area have announced a boycott of Anheuser-Busch products.
The bars’ announcement comes after the beverage company’s decision not to partner with the Pride festival this year.
Greenfinch Theater and Dive, along with Rehab Bar and Grill, have said they will no longer carry Anheuser-Busch products.
“To stand with our LGBTQIA+ community, we have decided to stop carrying all Anheuser-Busch products,” Chad Fox, owner of Rehab Bar and Grill, said. “As a community, we have been continuously targeted in all aspects of our lives. While for many years corporations have, in some respects, led efforts in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the decision by Anheuser-Busch — a long-standing sponsor of St. Louis PrideFest — to end their sponsorship is yet another targeted attack on our LGBTQIA+ community.”
Greenfinch Theater and Drive posted on social media that since it has already bought the Anheuser-Busch beer and can’t afford not to sell it, the team will donate 25% of sales from the remaining drinks to support their South City neighbors at the Metro Trans Umbrella Group.
Anheuser-Busch, founded and headquartered in St. Louis, and Pride St. Louis were partners for over 30 years. PrideFest organizers said they are now about $150,000 short of last year’s total.
Organizers with Pride St. Louis said that those interested can make a contribution to the #45for45 fundraiser to support the mission of the organization and the work it does throughout the year.
Those who donate $45 or more will receive a commemorative 45th-anniversary lapel pin as a token of appreciation.
PrideFest 2025 is scheduled to run Friday and Saturday at Soldier’s Memorial Park in Downtown St. Louis.
The Grand Parade, which is the largest parade in St. Louis, will also be on Sunday.
