One person was taken to the hospital on Friday morning, according to the Austin Fire Department.

AUSTIN, Texas — One person was taken to a hospital after a bus caught fire on Friday morning in southeast Austin. 

According to the Austin Fire Department (AFD), responders arrived at around 7:25 a.m. to the 4400 block of E. St. Elmo Rd., not far from the Franklin Park neighborhood. 

Crews said that a bus caught fire, impacting a nearby building.

AFD stated the fire was put out just after 8 a.m., and one person was transported for medical assistance. They did not say what caused the fire or how badly the person taken to the hospital was injured. 

Drivers are asked to avoid the area as a search for fire extension is underway.
