DEDHAM, Mass. (WHDH) – A 9-year-old boy in Massachusetts was recently bitten by a fox.
The family of the boy said the boy was playing basketball in the driveway of their home when a fox came around the corner and pounced.
The boy’s young brother witnessed the encounter that took place in the middle of the day.
“I heard him screaming, so I looked out my bedroom window and I saw him running up our walkway, and there was a fox behind him,” Michael Morrison said.
Michael said he saw the fox jump and grab his brother’s arm before it took off after someone yelled.
“He had a puncture wound right here,” he said. “He had a scratch on his arm. He had a couple of them on his butt and it was really bad.”
The family said they called the police and were told to take the boy to the hospital right away.
The scary situation left them all shaken up.
“My daughter called and we’re on our way home and said that my grandson Patrick had been attacked by a fox,” Jim Morrison, the boys’ grandfather, said.
Jim Morrison said his grandson is being treated and getting rabies shots but is holding up OK.
“He’s a tough guy. He’s doing good. He’s doing good, you know,” he said.
