ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers opened game one of the 2025 season against Boston under the blue Arlington sky Thursday afternoon, to a crowd of over 30,000.
Nathan Eovaldi delivered the first pitch of the season for Texas, and gave up three hits and two runs in his six inning outing. He tallied nine strikeouts in his start.
Texas jumped out to a small lead in the second off a RBI single from Kevin Pillar, but Boston struck just an inning later to tie it.
As Eovaldi continued to deal, the Ranger bats struggled to get players across the plate. Going into the ninth inning, the game was tied at two.
A three run homerun from Wilyer Abreu put the Sox ahead, and the Rangers failed to rally for the win, losing 5-2.
