AUSTIN, Texas — The Williamson County Commissioners Court has appointed Steven Snell as the new county judge.
Snell was selected among four finalists in consideration for the role following former Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell’s resignation on March 10, after he took a position in the Trump administration as part of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Advocacy. Gravell had served in as county judge since 2019.
Snell had spent the previous six years as the superintendent of Liberty Hill ISD, leading the district through two successful bond elections with construction projects totaling more than $1 billion. Over the last five years under Snell’s superintendence, the district has grown by 126% in enrollment, making it one of the state’s Fast Growth school districts.
Prior to his time with Liberty Hill ISD, he served as superintendent for Spring Hill ISD and assistant superintendent for Hutto ISD.
“I am truly honored to be appointed to this position to serve the citizens of Williamson County,” Snell said Thursday.
Snell will serve as judge until the next general election is held in November 2026.
