NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV/Gray News) – A Tennessee woman is desperate for answers after she says her dog was shot and killed at a Nashville park over the weekend.
Taylor Hauser said it happened at Bordeaux Garden Park on Saturday.
“This is the worst thing possible, I’ll never be able to get it out of my head,” she said. “It’s a tragedy, but it’s not acceptable, either. No one else should have to go through this.”
Her dog, Aspen, had reportedly wandered into a wooded area.
Hauser said she waited for Aspen to return, but she came back moments later, covered in blood after being shot with a pellet gun.
The dog owner rushed her animal to the veterinarian, but despite their efforts, 9-year-old Aspen did not survive.
“She used everything she could to find me,” Hauser said. “She came to me to fix it, and I wasn’t able to fix it.”
Hauser said they are unsure who shot Aspen and have filed a report with Nashville police in hopes officers can gather leads.
In the meantime, Hauser is left heartbroken and in search of answers.
“She was the most loving, gentle animal, and she loved people more than anything,” she said. “So, it makes it even more tragic that I know someone did this to her.”
A $1,500 reward is being offered by Hauser’s family. They have also set up a GoFundMe to recoup money from medical expenses.
