AUSTIN, Texas — Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS) graduated its largest cadet class in history on Friday.
Thirty-eight field medics and one communications medic were officially sworn in during a ceremony in the Capitol Extension Auditorium at the Texas Capitol.
“Academy graduation is a huge milestone for our Cadets. It marks the completion of the first major step as they embark on their careers caring for our community,” ATCEMS Assistant Chief Heather Phillips said. “We’re so excited to have the ability for our Cadet’s families and friends to participate in this important occasion It truly is a special day for everyone.”
The new class of cadets to join ATCEMS is pivotal for the department, as it has been plagued by staffing issues in recent years.
