WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (WDJT) – A 17-year-old is facing murder charges in Wisconsin for allegedly killing his mother and stepfather.

Authorities say the teenager continued to live in the same home with their bodies for two weeks.

Nikita Casap arrived to court Thursday afternoon after Waukesha County prosecutors filed two counts of first-degree intentional homicide against the 17-year-old for the deaths of his mother, Tatiana Casap, and stepfather, Donald Mayer.

“First-degree intentional homicide; the highest counts that we have, quite frankly, in our country,” Waukesha Circuit Court Judge Ralph Ramirez said.

Court documents show the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Casaps’ home on Cider Hills Drive on Feb. 28 for a wellness check.

That’s when deputies found the bodies of both Mayer and Tatiana Casap covered by blankets and pillows.

Nikita Casap was taken into custody in Kansas on March 1 during a traffic stop. Officers found a firearm belonging to Mayer, along with credit cards, jewelry and surveillance video.

Investigators say Nikita Casap can be seen in surveillance video lighting candles near Mayer’s body and saying, “So you can see him there. I can literally see the rotten body there.”

Officers also found messages on Nikita Casap’s cellphone to a Russian individual about plans to escape to Ukraine.

“He has been speaking with someone in Russian about moving to Ukraine after committing these crimes, so the state is concerned that he is a flight risk if he is ever released,” prosecutors said.

In court, Nikita Casap’s bail was set to $1 million.

Officials say the teen also faces charges for stealing his stepfather’s car and a handgun.
