Will Daizen Maeda end the season as Premiership top scorer?

ANDY NEWPORT: He’s in a decent position with 13 league strikes this season but there are another six players with 10 or more so he’s got stiff competition. But given the form that has established him as favourite for the PotY crown, it will be no surprise if he finishes as Premiership top gun.

CRAIG SWAN: Maeda has been inspirational for the champions this season and there is nothing to suggest he won’t go on and top the charts. And stick a few more assists on there at the same time.

FRASER WILSON: Now he’s drawn level with Sam Dalby you’ve got to think so. Celtic dominate games, create chances galore and Maeda is taking the majority of the ones that fall his way. Maybe Cyriel Dessers and Vaclav Cerny, two behind, are his biggest rivals for the crown.

Is Vaclav Cerny worth £5.5m to sign a long term Rangers deal?

ANDY: Absolutely. In fact that price looks a steal. The Czech ace had some sticky moments early on at Ibrox but he’s turned into a man for the big moments. Rangers have been poor this season but they’d be in an even bigger mess without his 24 goal contributions.

CRAIG: Cerny toiled for consistency in the beginning, but he’s come good often enough and, in the current transfer-market world, just over £5 million for a game-changer is pennies.

FRASER: It depends if Rangers are willing to splash out knowing they’ll probably not get their money back on the Czech. He’ll be 28 next season so there would be little chance of selling for a profit further down the line. If Rangers’ budget is tight then I’d be looking to spend elsewhere.

Will Neil Lennon keep Dunfermline in the Championship?

ANDY: It’s as big a challenge as the Northern Irishman has ever faced. He’s taking over a team bang out of form and short on time. But Victor Wanyama’s power in midfield could provide the spark to get the Pars out of danger.

CRAIG: Neil Lennon will galvanise that squad and get the results that are needed to ensure the Pars remain in the second tier. His achievements speak for themselves.

FRASER: Yes. He has a tough week of fixtures to start with but after that the Pars will face the other three relegation-threatened sides.

Lennon is a good manager, a good motivator and has previous in the Championship. He’ll make sure it’s mission accomplished.

Where does Steve Clarke stand now as Scotland boss?

ANDY: Needing a big win. Results at the end of last year lifted the pressure after a dismal summer at the Euros but that Greek tragedy saw the Scots slide into bad old habits. Clarke needs to write that wrong when he takes his team to Copenhagen for their opening World Cup qualifier in September.

CRAIG: Clarke was just getting the momentum back for himself until Greece hit Hampden. He deserves the World Cup campaign, but, qualify or not, it feels as if a new boss will be in charge go the Euro 2028 effort.

FRASER: Exactly where he was before. The Greece game at Hampden was an absolute horror show for Clarke and his players. But it was hopefully an aberration. Clarke has proved successful in qualifying and is locked in for the World Cup campaign. This is no time to go changing it up. He will see out his contract.
