AUSTIN, Texas — Police are searching for a suspect after multiple people were injured in a shooting in Downtown Austin early Sunday morning.
According to Austin-Travis County EMS and the Austin Police Department, the incident happened near the corner of Sixth and Brazos streets around 1 a.m.
ATCEMS said medics in the area located one of the victims and performed life-saving measures. Shortly after, medics found a second victim further away from the scene and began life-saving treatment.
Both of those victims were taken by ambulance to local trauma centers with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other victims refused medical attention at the scene, ATCEMS said.
APD said one of the victims got into a pedicab after the shooting and headed north on Brazos Street. Officers caught up with that victim at Eighth and Brazos streets and applied pressure to the injuries before medics arrived.
Police then received reports that there were more victims inside of a club on Sixth Street. Officers were able to find three additional gunshot victims and secure the crime scene, APD said.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police.
Cpl. Matthew Nonweiler with APD and Cpt Koesterer with EMS provide a joint briefing regarding a shooting which occurred downtown.
