BECKLEY, W.Va. – On Friday, Operation Christmas Child held a dinner to honor some of their local supporters.
They have received aid from several churches across Southern West Virginia in their effort to send thousands of shoeboxes filled with gifts to children in need.
The appreciation event and dinner showcased the impact of their efforts, with a speaker from Central Africa, who received one of the shoeboxes in his youth.
The honorees included Princeton’s First Christian Church and Johnston Chapel, Beckley’s Legacy Church and Faith Community Church, First Missionary Baptist Church of Ballard, and First Baptist Church of Fairlea.
In total, the entire local area team collected a record number of shoeboxes last year, coming out to more than nineteen thousand.
In a statement shared with WVVA, a member of Operation Christmas Child’s Media Support and Community Relations Team, Lisa Belcher, expressed gratitude to the organizations that supported their cause.
