The 14-year-old boy was with two other people trying to break into a vehicle when the homeowner saw them and fired off his weapon.

SAN ANTONIO — A 14-year-old boy was shot by a homeowner after he allegedly tried to break into a car with two other people, San Antonio Police say.

Officers were called to the 600 block of Saldana Street near I-35 on the southwest side of town around 1 a.m. Sunday for reports of criminal mischief. Just prior to that call, police also received another call about a shooting just a few blocks away on Ripford Street.

When police arrived, they learned that a teenage boy had been shot while trying to break into a car with two other suspects.

The 53-year old victim saw the trio, exited his home and fired his weapon, striking the teen inhis lower body.

All of the suspects ran off following the shooting, and the teen suspect called police about being shot.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threating injuries.

No arrests have occurred at this time, as this investigation remains ongoing.

This is a developing story.
