The SPS is offering full-time roles, with a 35-hour work week, for maintenance engineers specialising in electrical, mechanical, joinery, and systems.

These roles come with a generous annual pay package of up to £35,200, plus an on-call allowance – dependent on qualifications, skills, and experience.

Positions based at HMP Edinburgh and HMP Grampian also have an additional geographical allowance of £3,000 and £1,500, respectively.

Crucial role

As an electrical engineer, you will be crucial in supporting the estates management team by providing comprehensive repairs and maintenance services for distribution systems. This includes working on small power, inspection and testing, final circuits, and lighting.

If your expertise lies in joinery, you will provide an effective and efficient service ensuring compliance with all statutory legislative requirements, industry guidelines and policy.

You will play a key role in maintaining the estate’s building fabric, installations, replacements, and repairs.

For those with a mechanical background, you will be responsible for all mechanical systems and plant such as plumbing, building energy management systems, heating and ventilation systems.

Lastly, as a systems engineer, you will provide comprehensive repair, diagnostic, fault finding and maintenance services for various systems like security systems, building energy management systems, networks, mechanical and electrical locking and key vending.
