PRINCETON, W. Va. -While spring is sure to bring a lot of color to our area, a new event coming to Princeton is hoping to bring a little bit more, while supporting local animals.
It’s Princeton’s first-ever “Color Rush 5K Fun Run / Walk.” On May 10th, participants will start at the Princeton Presbyterian Church on West Main Street and go all the way to South Second Street and back, with stations of people throwing colorful powder at them as they go.
The organizer of the Color Rush says she wanted to provide an opportunity for people to get outside and get active while having fun. However, the event has another goal: helping with Mercer County’s stray animal population and overcrowded shelters by raising funds for the new “Furever Fixed” spay and neuter clinic.
“I think it’s such a great cause. You know, if we get them fixed and, you know, sent back to their homes, then we don’t have to worry about them potentially having babies that could be left on the side of the road or abandoned or neglected…” says Madison Gunnoe, event coordinator for the City of Princeton.
The cost to participate in this fundraiser is $20 the day-of, but you are encouraged to sign up from now until April eleventh for a five-dollar discount ($15 instead) and to guarantee you’ll get a commemorative tee shirt.
Again, this will be held on May 10th. You can get more information by going to the City of Princeton’s Facebook page, emailing Gunnoe at (m.gunnoe@princetonwv.gov) or by calling her at the Princeton City Hall (304-487-5020)
