BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The City of Bluefield is ready to fill potholes but can’t start until the asphalt is available.
Candy Sayers, the city’s director of public works, said the process of filling the potholes in the city will start as soon as the asphalt plants open that service this area.
Asphalt plants open as soon as the temperatures moderate.
Harsh winters create more potholes and can delay the opening of plants as well.
The state Department of Transportation has already started filling potholes but not yet in Mercer County.
Some city streets are part of the state road system and the potholes will be filled by state crews. That includes Princeton and Bluefield avenues (Rt. 19) and Cherry Street and Stadium Drive (Rt. 52).
