MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WHBQ) – A tow truck operator in Tennessee is recovering after he was run over by a driver trying to escape in his vehicle.
What appeared to start as a routine repossession quickly turned violent.
The tow truck driver got underneath the wheel of the car and the driver then backed over his head in a red Ford Focus.
The man ran to the car, hopped into the driver’s seat, turned on the ignition and hit reverse.

Memphis police say this incident unfolded just before 8 a.m. on March 26 at the University Gardens Manor Apartments.
As the victim screamed in pain, a woman can be seen on video disregarding him, and instead, directing the driver how to escape.
Memphis police said the man and woman fled the scene.
Miraculously, the victim was able to walk away sharing his horrific experience on social media, along with pictures from his hospital bed that show his injuries.
Memphis police said the victim had abrasions on his head, a large black mark on the front of his sweatshirt, complained of arm pain and had to be shaken to be kept conscious.
Neighbors, who didn’t want to be identified, were all shaken by the video, but also concerned with how the situation played out.
“I feel sorry for him, but I don’t think your job is that important,” one resident said.
Memphis police say a witness on scene told them they had sold the car to the woman in the video, but she wasn’t making payments, so she put the vehicle up for repossession and contacted the tow truck driver to pick it up.
On Friday, Memphis police took a 34-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman into custody. The pair face aggravated assault charges.
