SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (Gray News) – An abused dog is receiving care and cuddles after being rescued from the side of the road in Schenectady, New York.

Officers were called home Sunday afternoon after receiving a call that the dog had been found in the area Saturday night.

The dog, now named Lavender, was underweight and was suffering from severe wounds to her face and ears.

According to a post from the Schenectady Police Department, one ear appeared to have been intentionally cut off.

Additionally, Lavender had fractured teeth.

Authorities took her to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society for immediate treatment and care.

The case is being investigated by Schenectady Police Animal Control Officers, Schenectady Police Detectives, and Humane Law Officers from the MHHS as animal cruelty.
