A house hunter on Escape to the Country was left tearful after discovering the asking price of her perfect property.

On Wednesday’s (April 2nd) episode of the popular BBC show, presenter Sonali Shah assisted a couple in relocating from Warwickshire to their ideal rural home in Argyll and Bute.

Project manager John and his wife Liz, an administrator for a double-glazing firm, hoped the move to Scotland would bring a sense of tranquility to their daily lives. The avid motorcyclists had a budget of £340,000 for a detached house with at least two bedrooms, an acre of land, and a garage for their bikes.

They also required the property to be within a two-hour drive from Glasgow Airport and have a breathtaking view. Sonali lined up several properties for the couple to view, but one particular house caught their attention, and they instantly fell in love with it.

The property in question was a unique 1980s bungalow that met Liz’s desire for character while also being practical for John. It boasted three bedrooms, a garage, workshop space, and the stunning view they both desired, reports Edinburgh Live.

Overwhelmed by the property, Liz exclaimed: “It’s a lot bigger than we were expecting.” John added: “If this isn’t ten out of ten, I don’t know what is.”

Things took a surprising turn when Sonali revealed that the property was under their budget, leaving Liz emotional. Sonali excitedly told the pair: “I think you need to get your phone out because it’s on the market for offers over £270,000.”

Liz was visibly overwhelmed and started crying. Sonali looked at John and remarked: “She’s crying. Give her a hug, I want to give her a hug.”

John couldn’t believe the valuation as he exclaimed: “Wow. Are you sure you’ve got that right? Offers over £270,000.”

Sonali couldn’t contain her excitement as she yelled: “I’m so excited for you.” Liz confirmed her interest: “I’ve got to say yes.”

“We’ve done it, folks,” Sonali proclaimed. “We’ve found the Goldilocks house. The one that is just right.”

Liz, still astonished, said: “The front door to the house doesn’t really give much away, so there’s a real beautiful surprise when you come through into the house. I honestly cannot believe that this is within our price range.”

Ultimately, the couple shared that they are going forward with making an offer on the home.

Escape to the Country airs weekdays from 3pm on BBC One and iPlayer
