A man was left crawling across a bar floor with a knife handle protruding from his back after a savage attack outside a soup kitchen in the Canary Islands.
The victim, a 64-year-old Polish man who is believed to have known his attacker, was found lying on the polished stone floor of a nearby bar, wearing a grey hoodie and denim shorts.
It’s thought an altercation broke out between the two men as they were heading to the meal centre for food in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. Paramedics rushed to the scene following the brutal incident, which occurred around 10am on Sunday, March 30, according to local news site NeedToKnow.

After receiving initial treatment at the scene, the victim was transported to a local hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. The assailant reportedly fled before emergency services arrived, but a 44-year-old man handed himself into a local police station some two hours later, and reportedly confessed to the crime.
This stabbing marks the third such incident in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in March alone, with another violent brawl involving at least one machete also reported last month.
Local police have issued a warning about a “rise in insecurity” on the Canary Island, a popular destination for over 6 million Brits annually, following a series of major incidents in recent weeks.

One such incident was an attempted armed robbery of an armoured bank truck in Las Palmas on March 16, which led to a gunfight between officers and six suspects. The robbers were later apprehended inside a property in the La Paterna neighbourhood.
In another operation last week, around 800 kilograms of hashish being smuggled into Gran Canaria from Morocco was seized by police in Lanzarote, marking the end of a lengthy investigation.
The National Police, in collaboration with the Tax Surveillance Unit of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, also revealed that they had busted a fraud gang at the start of last month. The group is accused of defrauding more than €8.39 million, impacting over 3,000 holidaymakers in southern Tenerife.
