Following the Nintendo Direct conference, the pre-order date and price for the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 has been announced.
The hour-long presentation was dedicated to the new console, with regional websites launched containing all the necessary pre-order information.
UK fans can look forward to pre-ordering the Switch 2 from April 8, according to the official website. The standard edition of the console is set at a price of £395.99, while a bundle that includes Mario Kart World will be available for £429.99.
The Nintendo Switch 2 console package includes two Joy-Con 2 controllers (L+R), Joy-Con 2 Grips, Joy-Con 2 Straps, a Nintendo Switch 2 Dock, an Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable, a Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter and a USB-C Charging Cable.
Mario Kart World is a fresh racing game featuring open-world elements and various regions. It not only contains a traditional Grand Prix mode with set courses but also allows players to drive to the next race, reports the Express.

The Free Roam mode lets you uncover new secrets and routes while interacting with friends.
Nintendo has confirmed that the game will support 24-person multiplayer and in-game chat functionality via the console’s new C-Button. More details about Mario Kart World will be revealed during a dedicated Direct on April 17.
Speaking about the C-Button, this new feature allows you to chat with friends while playing on the Switch 2, and it’s supported in both handheld and docked mode. You’ll also have the ability to share your screen.
When you press the C Button, a chat screen appears, offering various options.
A separate camera can be utilised to show players during gameplay and chat. The Nintendo Switch 2 Camera will be launched on the same day as the Switch 2.
To use the chat function, you’ll need to be a Switch Online subscriber, although the service will be free for Switch 2 users until March 26, 2026.
Other games announced during the event include Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby Air Riders, and FromSoftware’s The Duskblooods.
