PRINCETON, W.Va. – A Mercer County man and woman are behind bars after an incident last week related to a reported assault and robbery.

Dustin Jones, 42, and Kimberly Edwards, 41, both of Princeton, face numerous charges including robbery, battery and conspiracy.

Mercer County Sheriff’s Office Lt. J.D. Ellison, Sgt. L.L. Addair, Cpl. M.C. Altice and Deputy A.M. Presley responded to a call about a fight at a residence on Low Gap Road just before 6 p.m. on March 27.

According to the criminal complaint, while en route to the scene a 911 call said the alleged aggressors had fled the scene. The victim was located in a vehicle and had injuries to her face and head, explaining she went to a house to pick up someone who had asked for a ride.

But once inside the house, she alleged that Jones and Edwards had assaulted her and took cash from her purse in her car as she tried to leave.

Jones was later located on Princeton Avenue and detained. The complaint said he had dropped off Edwards and another woman who has not been charged on Princeton Avenue.

Edwards was located on Saturday on Bluefield Avenue near Princeton and arrested.

Jones, who is also facing a drug possession charge, remains incarcerated at Southern Regional Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond. Edwards also remains incarcerated at SRJ on a $15,000 bond.
