Va. (WDBJ) – Wawa is expanding to Southwest Virginia as events across our hometowns unveiled the convenience store chain’s expansion plans.

Wawa has around 1,100 stores across eight states with plans to open in Roanoke and Salem in 2026.

The Wednesday tour of the region began in the Roanoke Valley, where leaders discussed the chain’s long-term plans for the area without giving specific locations.

The chain also held a groundbreaking for a location in Lynchburg along Wards Road.

“This has been a 20-year journey for Wawa; we’ve been looking at the Roanoke-Lynchburg Market for a long time. We’re finally here and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be partnered with such a great community.“ said Director of Site Acquisition Greg Harvey.
