AUSTIN, Texas — During Earth Month, Texas-based supermarket chain H-E-B is picking up efforts for a greener state.
Until May 30, the company is offering several $5,000 grants to nonprofits across the state as part of its “Trees for Texans” program.
H-E-B says the goal is to support organizations planting trees in public spaces, with an effort to increase tree canopy, green space and cool off urban areas.
Launched in fall 2023, the “Trees for Texans” program also supports tree-planting efforts at public schools and throughout Texas forests. H-E-B said that since its launch, the effort has led to more than 103,000 trees being planted across the state.
