FRISCO, Texas (WFAA) – A high school student was fatally stabbed at a track meet on Wednesday and police have charged another student with his murder.

“Just doesn’t make any sense,” Megan Metcalf said. “Just because the kid was mad, my son is not here anymore and I don’t understand it.”

Metcalf’s 17-year-old son, Austin, was at a track meet at Kirkendall Stadium when he and another student got into an altercation. Her son Hunter, Austin’s identical twin, called her.

“I got a phone call from Hunter screaming that Austin had been stabbed,” she said.

She beat the ambulance to the hospital and saw Austin get taken in.

“Oh, he was the most amazing kid. Oh, so smart. He had college football guys looking at him to play in college. His goal was to play in college,” Metcalf said.

Hunter was there when his brother was allegedly stabbed.

“I tried to whip around as fast as I could, but I didn’t see the stab. But then I looked at my brother and I’m not gonna talk about the rest, but just that’s what I saw and I mean, I tried, I tried to help him,” he said.

From the day they were born, Austin and Hunter were best friends.

“He knew how much I loved him, how much I do for him. I’d do anything for him,” Hunter said.

The brothers ran track together and played football together.

“It’s just really heartbreaking not to see him next year on the field,” Hunter said.

Hunter never imagined the day that he and Austin would be apart.

“This is gonna be really hard,” he said.

Police have identified the suspect as 17-year-old Karmelo Anthony. He was arrested and charged with murder.
