BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) – A 4-year-old boy in Alabama accidentally shot himself, according to authorities.
The Blount County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting happened at a home on Holliday Drive in the Sugarland Lake community.
When deputies searched the home, they found drugs and unsecured guns in addition to a crocodile and more than two dozen snakes inside the residence.
The Department of Human Resources was called to the scene to remove other children from the home.
The 4-year-old was taken to a hospital before he was airlifted to Birmingham for treatment.
“We are working with DHR and Law Enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of these children,” said Casey.
