PRINCETON, W.Va. – The Special Needs Collaborative held its April event in Princeton.

This event is called Adventures in Acceptance: Honoring Siblings and Their Heroes. This month’s gathering is meant to highlight and uplift the family members of people with autism, especially siblings. In a recent press release, The Special Needs Collaborative called siblings of folks with autism compassionate and accepting.

Today the Dick Copeland Square held games, superheroes, and resources for participants to learn about. Jamie Allen, the event’s coordinator, said they hold these celebrations to create an outing that everyone can enjoy, regardless of ability.

“This helps bring awareness to everything that’s going on. It is Autism Awareness Month worldwide and we want people to be able to come out to celebrate, to feel included, and provide an opportunity for families that may not get to take their loved ones out because not all events are completely accommodating for them,” said Allen.

The Special Needs Collaborative will have more events soon, and you can keep up with them on their website or Facebook page.
