A woman was killed and two children were in critical condition on Saturday after they were shot inside an SUV in northeast Miami-Dade County, authorities said.
The early-morning shooting happened near Northeast 141st Street and Second Court in Biscayne Gardens, just north of Downtown Miami, according to CBS News.
The victims were reportedly inside a black Ford Explorer when “multiple shooters” fired into the vehicle, a spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office told ABC affiliate WPLG.
All three victims, whose names have not been released, were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, where the woman was pronounced dead.
The two children, an 11-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, were shot several times and remain in critical condition, officials said.
The relationship between the woman and the two children was not immediately clear. Investigators did not comment on a possible motive or whether any suspects had been identified.
Detectives told WPLG that the SUV and two other vehicles were towed as part of the initial investigation.
