WACO, Texas. (KWTX/Gray News) – A 35-year-old man in Texas was arrested after allegedly intentionally spilling hot soup on his girlfriend, causing third-degree burns, according to authorities.
Alexander Alton McDavid, 35, is charged with assault – bodily injury – previous conviction, continuous violence against the family, injury to elderly (intentional, knowingly or reckless), resist arrest, search or transportation and terroristic threat of family member or household member.

On Feb. 28, the affidavit alleges the 67-year-old victim was with her boyfriend, identified as McDavid, at their apartment when he got mad and told her she was talking too much.
As the victim was taking hot soup out of the microwave, McDavid intentionally hit the plate and spilled the soup on the victim’s right shoulder and forearm, causing third-degree burns, police said.
According to the affidavit, the victim does not have a car and was not able to call police because she did not have a phone.
A few days after the incident, the victim left the apartment to go to the Social Security Office and stopped by the police department to file a report.
Pictures were taken of the victim’s injuries, and she gave a written statement.
The victim allegedly said McDavid was living with her and they had a relationship for about a year before he started physically abusing her.
Additionally, the victim said McDavid had choked her in the past, but she never called police.
McDavid was previously arrested in May 2024 by the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office and charged with assault – family violence, and the case is pending prosecution with the McLennan County DA’s office, the affidavit states.
McDavid has been convicted of assault – family violence twice, once in 2017 and again in 2021.
McDavid was later arrested and booked into the McLennan County Jail on bonds totaling $130,000
