Raging Brendan Rodgers let rip at his Celtic players after their miserable McDiarmid afternoon as he accused them of being too cosy.
But there was nothing comforting about the response of the Hoops faithful on the Hotline. Arrin Geddes was first up: “I said a couple of weeks ago this Celtic team were in a comfort zone. Nicolas Kuhn is playing at 70 percent and Reo Hatate thinks if he puffs his chest out he is unplayable. It’s become too easy and Rodgers needs to get these players playing again. Attitude beats skill every time.”
Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, added: “That was a long journey home after witnessing a disappointing performance from Celtic. St Johnstone fully merited their victory with a disciplined display.
“But it’s a result that proves Daizen Maeda is human and wasn’t constructed in a laboratory as he had a rare off day. Hopefully it is a wake up call for the Scottish Cup semi final and the Treble is still on the cards.”
Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said: “Another terrible performance from a Celtic team that for too long now have been thinking about their summer holidays.
“The league may be won but that’s no excuse for these performances as fans pay a lot of money travelling to watch them. The manager needs to take some of the blame as he keeps picking the same players going through the motions. Several of them should be dropped as their attitude is disgusting.”
William Hutchison, Aberdeen, emailed in: “Brendan was every right to blast the players. We were awful but take nothing away from St Johnstone who deserved the win. Now let’s put this defeat to bed and get a win at home to Kilmarnock on Saturday.”
Denis Bruce, Bishopbriggs, said: “Elite manager that Rodgers is, he seemed totally disgusted with the way his project players failed to turn up against St Johnstone.

“Presumably he felt that they were neither committed to the pride of performance nor had bought into the tradition of the jersey they have chosen to wear to move on to the higher grades of football.
“Instead of putting themselves in the shop window with high-powered performances, they appear to be content to crawl over the inevitable line to clinch the title. Let’s hope those players do not live to regret tripping up on the road to a Treble. Rodgers was not the only one disgusted with the lacklustre display in Perth”
Gerard Milligan, Renfrewshire, said: “Callum McGregor is our least-inspiring captain since Stephen McManus. On the TV highlights he wasn’t seen on the ball once. Rodgers can take the blame also as if he thought they were too comfortable he should have knocked that out their heads at half-time.”
Rodgers was fuming but Barry Ferguson was left looking like a Bear with a sore head too on Saturday following Rangers’ 2-0 defeat to Hibs.
Willie Mercer, Dumfries said: “It looks likely that the ineptitude of the current Rangers squad will cost Fergusson the opportunity of taking the managers role on permanently. Having got up close and personal with these players, and as an Ibrox legend who knows what is required to play for Rangers, the very least the board could do is take his advice on who in the current squad has and has not got the character to wear the jersey. He should be asked to provide the necessary player profile to Nils Koppen to prevent the failings in past player recruitment to be repeated and to ensure any future signings are fit for purpose.”
Last word goes to Hibs fan Neil Renton, Leith, who said: “You can’t help but laugh at Rangers fans moaning about Hibs winning despite the fact they had less possession than the Ibrox club.
“The most important possession stat of the day was Jack Butland having to pick the ball out of his net on two occasions.”
