BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – On Saturday, the Greenbrier Resort hosted an awards luncheon that showcased journalistic excellence in the Two Virginias.
WVVA team members were shown recognition in a variety of categories this past weekend at the 2024 Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters Awards, taking home 8 awards.
Jeffrey Hoole took home home the station’s sole first place plaque in the “Best Weathercaster” category. WVVA sweeped that category with our own Katherine Thompson coming in second. Keeping it with weather Jeffrey Hoole and Tim Cha were given second place for their pre-Helene tornado coverage in the category “Best Weathercast”.
Jessica Nuzzo was recognized as second place in “Best Spot News Photography” and “Best Feature Photography ” Our Joshua Bolden also collected second place wins with “Best TV News Anchor” and ”Best Mountain State Heritage”.
The awards didn’t stop for on-air talent, Aaron Sudderth won second place in “Best Station Promo”.
