WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) – A man was arrested after allegedly stealing items that were spilled during a semitruck crash.

According to Connecticut State Police, troopers received a notification from the wrong-way detection system saying a wrong-way driver was on the Interstate 84 westbound Exit 42 off-ramp early Sunday morning.

Officers said they witnessed on camera that a driver walked up to a crash scene and started picking up items that were scattered on the highway after a semitruck rollover crash.

Troopers were able to find the suspected car and said the driver, identified as 51-year-old Marcus King, had several items from the crash scene.

King was arrested and is charged with driving the wrong way on a limited access highway, negligent pedestrian on a highway and larceny in the fourth degree.

He has been released on a $10,000 bond.
