Around 4:40 a.m., officers responded to an urgent welfare check call and found a man with serious injuries laying on the ground.

AUSTIN, Texas — Police are investigating after a homicide in North Austin on Saturday morning.

The incident happened on North Lamar Boulevard near Parmer Lane and Interstate 35.

The Austin Police Department said around 4:40 a.m., officers responded to an urgent welfare check call and found a man with serious injuries laying on the ground.

Police and Austin-Travis County EMS medics tried to save his life, but the man died on the scene.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses and searching the area for any clues.

This is Austin’s 14th homicide of the year.
