Didi Hamann reckons Danny Ings would score goals for fun for Celtic if he were to make the move north of the border.

And the former Champions League winner also states that Rangers should be in the market for the out-of-favour West Ham striker.

England cap Ings was touted as a potential option for the Hoops back in January as Brendan Rodgers pushed hard for a replacement for Kyogo following his £10million move to Rennes.

And with the 32-year-old set to be a free agent in the summer, Hamann believes that Ings – who was previously signed by Rodgers for Liverpool in 2015 – would rip up the Scottish Premiership as he approaches the back end of his career.

Speaking to PokerFirma, he said: “Could Danny Ings be a success at Celtic? Absolutely. His playing time at West Ham has been restricted and I think Celtic would be a great option for him.

“The standard of football is not quite as high as the Premier League and I think he could get a new lease of life up there.

“He will certainly be on the radar of Celtic and maybe Rangers because he has a proven record of putting the ball into the net. If you make chances for him he will show you where the goal is for sure.”

Rangers’ last-gasp leveller against Aberdeen on Pittodrie has denied Celtic the chance to lift the title until after the league split.

But one Hoops player has managed to get his hands on some silverware this weekend.

Bombed-out winger Luis Palma joined in the post-match celebrations as Olympiakos secured a record 48th Greek league championship with a narrow 1-0 victory against city rivals AEK Athens.

Luis Palma (seventh from left, back row) and the rest of the Olympiakos squad celebrate their title triumph on Sunday

Palma joined the reigning Conference League holders on loan back in January and has registered one goal and one assist in 10 matches in all competitions, with Olympiakos having the chance to lap up a league and cup double when they face OFI Crete in the Greek Cup final next month.

The Honduras star still has three years remaining on his contract at Parkhead but Olympiakos do have the option to buy him outright for £3.5million at the end of the season.

Palma is also a reportedly a target for Dynamo Kiev, who are said to be willing to fork out the same free to bring him to Ukraine.
