GEORGETOWN, Texas — The Georgetown Fire Department has identified an off-duty firefighter killed in a crash on Friday, April 11.
Officials said Kurt Lentz was driving home just after 9 a.m. when the crash happened on State Highway 29, near Wolf Ranch Parkway.
“Kurt was and remains a symbol of strength within our Fire Department and community,” the Georgetown Fire Department in a tribute on Monday. “As a close-knit fire family, we are struggling through this loss. During the coming days and weeks, we are focusing our hearts, prayers, and support to Kurt’s wife, son and family.”
Lentz was taken to Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
According to officials, Lentz was riding a motorcycle and wearing a helmet when the crash happened. The driver of the other vehicle involved declined to be taken to the hospital following the crash.
The public has been invited to attend a celebration of life service for Kentz on Thursday, April 17. It will take place at the Celebration Church at 601 Westinghouse Road in Georgetown at 10 a.m.
“Kurt was proud to serve the city of Georgetown, and we are equally proud to honor his life and service,” the fire department said.
