DALLAS — Scottie Scheffler can’t go anywhere without winning a million bucks on a golf course.
Even in what’s been an underwhelming year (by his lofty standards), Scheffler, one of the most lucrative golfers of his era, has still managed to fill his bank account. His fourth-place finish on Sunday at the Masters Tournament earned him $1.008 million, his second seven-figure payday of 2025.
Scheffler earned $1.2 million for a T3 finish at the Genesis Invitational in February.
Scheffler’s season has been viewed as relatively uneven following his Christmas Dinner hand injury, in which he infamously cut himself while making ravioli with a wine glass. But “uneven” for Scheffler simply means not winning a tournament — he won nine times in 2024 — and he’s been close several times, finishing top 10 in four out of seven events.
Scheffler came close to contending Sunday, when Rory McIlroy wobbled on the back nine at Augusta, but Scheffler couldn’t find any birdies in the final three holes, finishing three shots behind McIlroy and Justin Rose.
McIlroy beat Rose in a playoff and took home the green jacket and a $4.2 million paycheck. Bryson DeChambeau, Scheffler’s fellow North Texan who posted a disappointing 75 to finish tied for fifth, still earned $840,000 as a consolation prize.
Scheffler and DeChambeau have been two of the biggest beneficiaries of golf’s recent money infusion, DeChambeau on LIV and Scheffler earning massive payouts on the PGA TOUR. Sunday was no different, even if it didn’t end with a green jacket.
